For various reasons, Peter and I haven't been home much in the past week, which has led to a lack of posts. Oops.
The bathroom project is dragging longer than I'd hoped. Our marvelous handyman seems to have semi-emergencies requiring his attention at home at least one day a week, and since he lives an hour away, he can't just run over here afterwards. Then you add in delays like waiting for tile orders and BAM! it's been 3 weeks without a tub now. I'm not-so-secretly hoping he finishes on Thursday as the best possible birthday present I can come up with, but when he didn't show today, that pretty much killed the possiblity. The ofoto bathroom site has updates since I first mentioned it, but isn't completely up-to-date. At the moment, the walls are tiled up to my chin and our closet doors have been replaced in our front entry. Still to go--tiling up to the ceiling, tiling the floor, and replacing the front door. He could finish that in three days, right? Ha ha ha. I've been avoiding him a bit because I was waiting for a big check from our financial planner to arrive--now I just hope that the bank doesn't require that it sit in their accounts for a week before dispursing funds.
I'll be 13 weeks tomorrow (today, if you claim that it's Tuesday already) so the end of the first tri is rapidly approaching--I think I'll declare myself in the second tri on Friday. Other than the fact that I'm a total bum about half the evenings and my grouchiness over night nursing, I can still ignore the fact that I'm pregnant. I can't believe how long I'm getting away with normal clothes buttoned up--I was in all elastic waists by 13 weeks last time. It helps a little that it's summer and some of my shorts are stretchier anyway, but the same clothes didn't fit with Peter. I wonder how much I'm affected by still breastfeeding. I might be up a pound or two, but not more than that--I think I was up 4 or 5 at the equivalent point. Overall, I weigh 10 pounds less, which is a nice place to start.
I'm getting picky enough about sleep that we've decided to definitely start putting Peter to sleep in his bed once the renovations are done. I start the night on the couch almost all the time now to have space to myself and it's getting old. Peter went 9 1/2 hours without night nursing a few days ago and I'm hoping that would happen more often if he can't just roll over and nurse all night. I'll still nurse him to sleep in his bed and Dan will stay with him until he sleeps if nursing isn't enough--I'm not about to become a crying-it-out fan.
