Odds and Ends
On my way home tonight I stopped at the site of the I-35 bridge. I couldn't see all that much in the dark from a bad angle, but the lack of anything visible was striking. There's just nothing there now. Supposedly there're a couple weeks into construction and I thought they were working 21 hours/day, but either they're working on the other side or doing things underground or something. It was like all traces of the bridge were wiped away.
Anyone else's kids still messed up from the time change? Both kids woke up after 9am today, Leo napped from 2:30 - 4:15, and finally went to bed at 10:30. Peter fell asleep around 8 like normal. Last week, Peter kept waking up before 6. At 4 am last night he decided his room was scary and didn't calm down until Dan put all his bedclothes on the living room floor where he slept soundly for 5 hours. At this rate, Peter will be sleeping 7-7 and Leo will sleep 10-10 before too long. Gah!
I had my first stocking since early summer today and appear to have sort of sold two spots out of four. The custom slot was "purchased" but I haven't received the deposit or any information and one semi-custom was requested as a partial trade for paypal and yarn. Hopefully I'll have money and sizing from both people soon. They're both repeat customers, which is hopeful.
It occured to me today that not only is Thanksgiving a week away but Christmas isn't much more than a month away. That's fine and dandy except it may be time to lower my expectation of what I can knit and sew for presents in the next 5 weeks. I also really want to have a plan for Advent for Peter.
Peter and I went to the dentist yesterday and he was willing to sit in the chair to get his teeth counted if he sat in my lap. Hey, if it means he leans back and opens his mouth, it works for me.
While Leo avoided sleep tonight, he managed to explain in words what Dan did on Sunday "guh-gut", "woof", "yeaves", "wake", "up", "yots and yots". Indeed, Dan cleaned the gutters and used the rake. It got cold and windy today but I have high hopes of turning over the 2/3 of the garden we still have left. We covered it in leaves a month ago and they've disintegrated enough already that we need to put more from the yard in. At least that saves the effort of bagging them. The vast majority of the leaves have finally fallen so we're almost done after a month of constant raking. I'm pretty sure we're the only ones in the neighborhood who use rakes instead of a leaf blower of lawn mower. I used to really enjoy raking but I didn't have this many trees.
Here's a pic of my newly-painted bathroom my sister just sent. I should take one in daytime one of these days.
It's more of a buttery yellow than it seems here.
